How to use aromatherapy during the winter

The winter blues can affect anyone, and with the holiday season over it's easy to feel a little blue about the fact, winter is still going to stretch on for three to four months. The constant darkness, cold weather and bleak sky can be draining for some and January can be a particularly tough month for many people with seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Even the most cheerful people can experience winter blues and whilst there are many ways to overcome the winter blues like seeking out the sun by taking a winter holiday, or taking vitamin D3 supplements and physical exercise, we think that aromatherapy has a place in our winter blues busting routine too.

At KINN you know that we are proponents of aromatherapy, and we think that aromatherapy deserves a place amongst our winter blues busting routine. We recommend investing in a diffuser (you don't have to go all out and buy a crazy expensive one) and getting some essential oils to scent your home with.

Our top oils to beet the winter blues are -

  • Cedarwood
  • Citrus oil (lemongrass, bergamot, grapefruit and sweet orange)
  • Lavender Oil
  • Sandalwood
You can use these individually mixed with water or you can combine the oils to make a blend that you particularly like.
